Kindness

I went to the grocery store this morning and as I waddled up to the (only open) checkout lane with my Kroger purchases I notice the woman in front of me and her purchases: 30 bags of sugar. So, I knew I'd have to wait. Then this little old woman comes up behind me with three items. I tell her she can go in front of me and she appeared shocked. This happens a lot to me. It's amazing that the world has become so used to people only thinking about themselves that any act of kindness is simply shocking. She was very sweet and seemed beside herself about it all. It made her feel good, it made me feel good, everybody wins. And I walked out with my $63 worth of groceries with a smile on my face and a bounce in my step.
