The Pain of You

Okay, here is my latest writing. I don't know what to say about it, but I feel I should preface it in some way. It's not my best writing, but with most everything I write, the ones with the most emotion packed behind them usually aren't literary masterpieces. I think this would fall under "raw expression" or something similar. I'm proud of this in the fact it is personal and very emotional. And so...

The Pain of You
(By Matthew David Ward)

In the ache of surrender
I let the hurt encompass me
The shields I have gathered
Are powerless against your resurrection
The darkness your memory brings only makes me weak
And the shadows play tricks with the truth
The injustice heats my blood
The smell of you tortures my heart
And the pain of you continues to rage on

In the seconds of forgiveness
I forgive myself the indiscretion
My heresy gets me every damn time
The shameless desire that ravaged my soul
Begging for redemption in the undertow
Growing weaker with every rise
And the lust heats my blood
The feel of you tortures my senses
And the pain of you continues to rage on

In the error of reflection
I am damned to the misery that claims my pride
The blasphemy of my scratchy past
Won't let me rest with this constant shattering
The pieces I held so dear turn vile
With the acceptance of what this all means
And the regret heats my blood
The love of you tortures me still
And the pain of you continues to rage on
