Alas, I Post Again!

Well, Seeker Magazine said they like the piece I submitted ("Belief", somewhere in the posts below), but would like me to expand upon it and go more in depth. This is not a new experience to me. In 2001, I wrote a letter to the editor for Kentucky's big newspaper the Lexington Herald-Leader and the lady asked me to expand on it to create an article for a second they called "Open Mike." I did and it was published in December 2001. I am still proud of it; in fact, it's framed and hanging on the wall of my little office here. Anyway, I don't know if I'll actually do it with the piece for Seeker Magazine. I just really don't have the inclination.

I do intend on starting a new writing project, though. I have this picture in my head of a man left confused about where to go in life after his father suddenly dies. I see him running into a host of characters as he tries to find himself and who he is and come to terms with the death of this man he loved and hated. It does have a bit of an autobiographical feel, but that's the best way to write something. Writing Rule #1: Write something you know about. Anyway, this is just my idea. I know for a fact there will be no love undertone in anything I write, be it poem of story. It's just too painful to think of love in any form (and to recap, this comes from feelings expressed within the post below titled: 'Love and TV...').

A girl from Chattanooga and I are bouncing e-mails back and forth. She's one of the girls I met on the dating site. Anyway, we exchanged numbers and such. She's really sweet. I'm going to take it slow, though, because I know I'm not ready for a serious relationship anytime soon. Just gonna let whatever happens happen.

I realize I've been including lyrics and such from other writers and I'm going to try to start including some of my own poems and songs lyrics in here more often.

Well, more quotes from Therapist in a Box. These, I dedicate to my therapist:
  • "A neurotic is a man who builds a castle in the sky. A psychotic is the man who lives in it. A psychiatrist is the man who charges them both rent." - Jerome Lawrence
  • "A psychiatrist asks a lot of expensive questions that you're wife will ask for free." - Joey Adams

And here's one I really like:

  • "If you talk to God, you are praying. If God talks to you, you have schizophrenia." - Dr. Thomas Szasz

And finally, from a well respected man and close personal friend:

  • "There was never a genius without a tincture of madness." - Aristotle
