Okay, I want to rant a little bit. We surround ourselves with friends who understand us and like being around us, right? Or, well, we try. I admit I have a very unique and sometimes rough sense of humor. I am cynical, sarcastic, etc. etc. But I am a caring person. I do care about people and I care about people's feelings (and the people who know me well enough know this). The few friends I do have mostly know my sense of humor and know not to listen to some of the things I say. I tease people. But, there is that ever occasional person whose humor doesn't jibe with mine. This is bad because you can't be yourself around that person. They get upset over things said. They get their feelings hurt. You tell them you're only teasing (and it's obvious in your voice), but they are still upset. I'm not sure what to do. I can't apologize for being who I am; I shouldn't have to.
I realize there are people in the world who do not do well with each other. They just don't click. So, the question is to remain friends with this person by coddling them and not making any jokes since they may take offense to them? And, is there a point in being around someone who just doesn't "get" you?
Okay, I'm through. Have a nice day. :)
