Got locked out of my apartment today. I was in such a hurry to get my excited dog out for her walk I forgot the keys, luckily I remembered my cell phone. So, I called the building manager and the maintenance man happened to be in the building so it was a problem easily resolved. There's no reason to tell this story, I just wanted to share.
I do want to talk about the superficial. Not the supernatural, we'll talk about that some other time, but the superficial... While I continue my search for love on the online dating site, I have begun to really see how superficial we humans are. We sum people up with a few words and a couple of pictures. That's true for online life and in real life. How many times do we look at someone and have some instant judgment in our minds of that person? Come on, we all do it. Be truthful with yourself. We're all so superficial. It's really a shame. Now, don't get me wrong, there are people out there who aren't as superficial as others (notice the wording here... "not as superficial" we're all superficial in some way). How can we define people and know who they are in just a few words? I mean, honestly, you can't really even know someone who you've lived next door to for years and years. Knowing a person takes time and effort, and even then you may never really know that person. I guess this then borders on turning into a topic on trust. Do we even know our long-time boyfriends/girlfriends? Husbands/wives? Okay, so ramble, ramble, ramble. My point, I think, is we need to give people a chance before we reject them as someone we don't want to know or someone we think less of -- well, not exactly my point, but it's in there somewhere.
