Equality... In America?

Have been reading on CNN about the new Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers and how everyone is getting in a bit of a tiff about her views on gay rights. She believes they should have the same civil rights as everyone else! Oh, dear God!! In America?? Treating homosexuals as equals?? NEVER. I find it hilarious, actually. I mean, look at hypocrisy. We're "the land of the free." Everyone is supposed to be treated equally, right? Yet, we're denying rights to other human beings. It's really very sad. Anyway, I'm with Miers on the fact they should have equal civil rights.
