It's hard to believe that just a bit to the south people are going through hell with this hurricane. It's dry here (for the moment) and actually quite nice. I started thinking about it as I sat here "dramatizing" my day. I guess things could always be worse. At least I'm not under 10 feet of water.
I went to the school today and bought my books ($153.20) and then headed off to pick up my keys for the apartment. I also paid September's rent ($475.00). They said it's ready and I can move in any time now. So, (take a deep breath) I'll start that tomorrow.
It's scary to be going out and living on my own for the first time. It will also be fun and liberating, but still something I'll have to get used to. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it (as I do with most things). Well, life is about change, right? So, here I go.
I wanted to add another CD to my list of recommendations: Mare Winningham's Lonesomers. It's hard to find, I bought mine on eBay. It's good, she has a great voice and is a wonderful songwriter (as well as an actress). I'm still reading The Poet by Michael Connelly, and enjoying it very much. I have about 100 pages left and it's just rolling right along. I want to see the new movie The Cave. I probably won't get out to see it in the theater, but I will buy it on DVD when it's released. Seems like my kind of flick. I'm also interested in checking out Flightplan, which is apparently a new movie coming out soon starring Jodie Foster. It's a thriller type movie. She's on a plane with her daughter, her daughter disappears and everyone says there was never a daughter on the plane, etc. etc. I like Jodie Foster; she's as the point in her career where she can pick the type of film she thinks is good and does not just do it for money (and she has good taste).
Okay then, I'm still wishing the best for the Big Easy and hoping they come through this with as few casualties and as little destruction as possible.
